Is Scotland becoming the new Switzerland?
Scotland braced for three feet of snow
SCOTLAND is today bracing itself for a second wave of icy weather conditions after forecasters warned a freezing snowstorm would hit tonight - bringing up to three feet of snow in some areas of the country.
Gales of up to 50mph are also expected, producing wind chill which will make the already freezing temperatures feel up to 10C colder. All ferries to Lewis from Ullapool have been cancelled in anticipation of gale-force winds.
Opposition politicians last night warned that Scotland may not be prepared for such a heavy fall of snow. The Scottish Parliament is today to hold a debate on "winter resilience", when politicians are set to discuss how best to tackle extreme weather conditions.
