Tomorrow Might be Too Late
By Jack Perry
Well, here we are again, America. Have a look at the latest indicator we live in the “greatest nation on Earth”. Another two teens commit suicide. Two fifteen-year-old girls, very similar to the incident that garnered national headlines before it that I talked about here in Lew Rockwell. See here.
I want to be crystal clear: I am not blaming the parents here in these incidents. These parents need our prayers. But guess what? So does our society. But the professional experts and talk show circuit riders will surely tell us what we want to hear so we can watch more violence and amoral hogwash afterward. Again, we’re going to ask the wrong questions, come to the wrong conclusions, and never once step into a room where there is a mirror and no politicians.
How long will America outsource its children to the government? I mean, people keep wanting the government to fix this or that thing and for decades now, we’ve seen no progress. Maybe that’s because this government sees “solutions” as being a sledgehammer to pound in a carpet tack. Not that the government would want to pound in a raised carpet tack. How else will they sweep crap under the rug, after all? No problem is ever as simple as the government makes them out to be, where we can Obamacare, regime change, and Hillary dillary dock our way out of fundamental, profound, and horrifying social problems that are so obvious you have to medicate yourself to avoid seeing them. Which is what a lot of people do and the government thinks it’s “easy” access to prescription medications that causes that. No, you idiots! It’s because this is not the “greatest” nation on Earth, like you keep selling us on, you bunch of geopolitical slumlords! If this country was an apartment complex, it’d be worse than any low-rent cracker box full of roaches and rodents and ten deadbolts on the door just to make it through the night.
Again, this society (because it isn’t just the government that runs it) sits there and acts as if teen suicides and mass shootings are just manifesting out of thin air, without any causes and conditions that can be understood. Nothing, ever, anywhere, at any time, is ever like that. Everything from an acorn falling to the suicide of a kid has a series of causes and conditions that leads up to it. But we don’t want to see that, do we? We don’t want to know that, do we? No, because then we couldn’t just demand the government take care of it, wave the magic Medicate The Kids wand, and hopefully it’ll go away a few funerals later. When do we realize that the government has no solutions? When do we realize that we have built a society that glorifies death, senseless violence, and vacuous atheism that seems to think we’re all just so much random happenstances with no spirit or conscience we need to be concerned with. So, why is anyone at all surprised by any of this? We’ve even got a government that perpetuates this madness and then we ask this cast of amoral false prophets to save us? Huh.
You might as well create a bunch of crisis counselor “rapid response teams”, America, that can respond to teen suicides and mass shootings quickly, because I’m not seeing this ending any time soon. In fact, I see it getting worse. Heaven forbid someone talk about a —shudder—religious solution! People gather after these incidents and pray. To whom?! Maybe that’s what should have been done BEFORE, you know? Heaven forbid someone criticize the secular humanism that has nothing to offer us but the thought that after death, nothing occurs. Because, indeed, life itself began when a group of dust particles just swirled together in the universe and a few billions of years later, presto!, here we are. This is as ridiculous a notion as thinking a tornado could sweep through a junkyard and a cabbage patch and assemble a 747 jetliner, with passengers. The government rather likes atheism because there’s no one they need to answer to for their thefts and murders. Society likes it because then they can show endless gladiatorial’s and sell their own daughters on television and not once feel guilty about it. Hey, the tornado that swept through the junkyard and cabbage patch is long gone and won’t care.
Again, people have grown accustomed to the government “taking care” of problems so they can return to their regularly scheduled programming. People have collectively abdicated their responsibility for everything: Their lives, their children, their well-being, even their moral compass. My gosh, looking to this government for leadership and a moral compass is like trying to navigate through the Sahara Desert with a Cracker Jack box compass and no map being led by the Donner Party! All of these events, teen suicide, mass shootings, and violence, are not just random events! They are all linked! These are the warning heralds that our society is in deep, deep trouble and the government sits there and acts like, “Hey, no worries, it’s all good” and society is dumb enough to fall for it! I can’t be the only one saying this. Our society not only has no moral compass, it wouldn’t know how to read one if it did, at this point. “So…hmmm…a compass. It’s supposed to always point south, right? Or is it west? I dunno, can’t we just MapQuest our way back into a healthy society? This compass is just too, too, old and hard to understand.”
When our society is as deeply fractured and falling apart as ours is, we need to sit down quickly and start studying the religious precepts we’ve forgotten so we understand what the reasons for those precepts were and are. The government is not going to do this for us. Gun control is not going to change one single thing, Democrats. Wake up and smell the fruits of moral relativism and secular humanism. And, hey, now directives are going out to screen everyone for depression at doctors offices. What happened to the “greatest nation on Earth”, tough guys? Huh? When you have an epidemic of depression which requires that, maybe it’s time to stop worrying what Iran and Bashar al-Assad are doing and start worrying about what’s going on here, for a change. We can criticize the Middle East all we want, but they’re not the reasons teens are committing suicide over here. What, Obamacare is going to save us by providing health care coverage to people so they can take their kids to the doctor and get them medicated. “Here, take these pills, you’ll feel better…” Then the government tries to draw some distinction between the pills they say you should take to feel better and the ones that are illegal to take to feel better, despite the fact the difference between the two is some stupid piece of paper with scribbling on it from the doctor.
Hey, everything has been tried. The crisis counselors have been there. The schools are probably going to be tasked with looking for the “warning signs” on top of the other several things they need to spot the “warning signs” of. Hey, folks, maybe we ALL better start paying attention to these warning signs. It’s time to stop pawning it off on teachers to catch it and several other things, too. Hey, maybe the next time the Gideons want to pass out Bibles at schools, people ought to just shut up and quit whining about it. But you can’t discuss that nowadays or people get freaked out about it.
These are the warning signs, America. My question to you is this: What are YOU going to do about it? No, not the government. YOU. The liberals said not long ago, “Prayer is not a solution to all this gun violence!” Yes it is. But it has to be done right and you need to know to whom you are praying. You can’t just throw it out there in a birdshot effect of spiritualism and hope to hit something. “When will the answers be revealed unto us?!” Plenty has been revealed. Plenty is being revealed. But you’ve got to open the books and read them today. Tomorrow might be too late.
