"Verdier compares the climate juggernaut to a “war machine” that needs to keep the populace in constant terror to advance its objectives. “Every night I address five million French people to talk to you about the wind, the clouds and the sun,” the weatherman says in the video. “And yet there is something important, very important that I haven’t been able to tell you, because it’s neither the time nor the place to do so. Top French Meteorologist Persecuted for Debunking Climate Hysteria
Written by Alex Newman

Just months before the massive United Nations “Climate Change” summit hosted by the French government is set to take place in Paris, France's top meteorologist is blowing the whistle on the hysteria surrounding alleged man-made global-warming theories. Blasting the UN's controversial climate agenda and the corruption of science to serve radical political goals, chief weatherman Philippe Verdier (shown) with state-funded broadcasting giant France Televisions said the world had been taken “hostage” by misleading data peddled by politicians and climatologists. He also touted the benefits of climate change, especially to France, and blasted "renewable energy." In response, his employer — essentially, the French government — promptly took the climate heretic off the air and put him on “forced holiday,” ironically, confirming a key thesis of his book. The devastating blow dealt by Verdier to climate hysteria in France, though, may be impossible for the nation's Socialist Party rulers and media apparatchiks to repair before the UN climate summit. And he may not be the last whistleblower waiting to expose the fraud before the Paris confab.

Verdier is France Televisions chief of meteorology and the nation's most famous weatherman, providing nightly forecasts to millions of viewers. Everything was fine until he ventured into what might come in the decades and centuries ahead. In a new book, dubbed Climat Investigation, or Climate Investigation in English, Verdier lambasted the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), saying its climatologists and political backers have “taken the world hostage” with misleading or downright inaccurate data. The revelations took France by storm, sparking furious outrage by politicians, Big Labor, climate alarmists, and establishment media outlets. Within days, the scandal went global, with the U.K. Telegraph and media outlets across Europe picking up the story. The news is especially explosive because it comes less than two months before the start of a massive UN climate summit in Paris where the UN, its member regimes, and establishment interests hope to approve a sweeping global-warming regime to ration energy use and re-engineer civilization under the guise of saving humanity from itself.

In a promotional video for the book, Verdier compares the climate juggernaut to a “war machine” that needs to keep the populace in constant terror to advance its objectives. “Every night I address five million French people to talk to you about the wind, the clouds and the sun,” the weatherman says in the video. “And yet there is something important, very important that I haven’t been able to tell you, because it’s neither the time nor the place to do so. We are hostage to a planetary scandal over climate change — a war machine whose aim is to keep us in fear.” Verdier also noted that climate scientists, who depend almost entirely on taxpayer funds distributed by governments with an interest in promoting global-warming hysteria, have been “manipulated and politicized.” Especially problematic, he argued, is the UN's widely ridiculed IPCC, which “blatantly erased” data and evidence that contradicted the UN's catastrophic anthropogenic (man-made) global-warming theories (AGW). He also slammed the “blinded media” and the “commercial NGOs and religions looking for new creeds,” while exposing the inaccuracy of “climate models.”

Indeed, as numerous climate experts have documented, all 73 of the UN's climate models have been discredited by the lack of warming for nearly two decades and counting, as shown by the global satellite temperature record. Verdier also suggested that the world is currently in the midst of a natural cycle. “We are undoubtedly on a plateau in terms of warming, and the cyclical variability of the climate does not allow us to envisage if the natural rhythm will tomorrow lead us towards a fall, a stagnation or a rise [in temperature],” he was quoted as writing by the Telegraph. And while the IPCC and various government-funded alarmists have claimed that warming doom awaits humanity without a UN global-warming regime, countless top climate scientists have rejected and ridiculed the theory and its “cult” supporters, and more than a few are forecasting a natural period of global cooling. With record sea ice across Antarctica, a rebounding Arctic, no warming in two decades, and government and UN agencies constantly being exposed in new scandals, experts say the AGW theories are surviving solely because of the hundreds of billions of dollars annually in tax funding.

A summary for the promotional video on the book declares that climate today has become a “war” and a “religion,” and that any dissent will be eliminated. “What voices will be raised to break the silence and make clear the truth before the Paris summit?” the summary asks. There is no longer any link today between the climate and the “alarmist discourse” surrounding the subject, it continues. “The French are held in fear by an unprecedented hype,” the summary goes on, saying it constitutes a “hostage situation” before the UN climate summit. Calling the IPCC “ultra-politicized,” the text says the widely ridiculed UN body is “disintegrating” under the weight of scandals and dubious methods as it seeks to squelch real science. The UN, meanwhile, has plunged into “corruption,” and various lobbies — environmental, economic, governmental, and even religious — are now creating “dangerous” links with the scandal-plagued body. “Climate ambassadors,” meanwhile, are working frantically to whip up public fears. Finally, it says, “renewable energy” threatens the security of France. “Who will dare to openly break these taboos, under extreme pressure from leaders?” it asks.

Perhaps even more alarming to alarmists, Verdier's 330-page book also includes a full chapter detailing the myriad and “considerable” positive effects that global-warming, if it comes, would bring to France. “It’s politically incorrect and taboo to vaunt the benefits of climate change because there are some,” explained Verdier, who has attended numerous UN climate summits over the years. Among the benefits of potential warming he cited were lower death rates from cold, which is far more dangerous to humans than warmth, reduced electricity bills for heating, better wine and agriculture, and more tourism to France. Countless other experts have also detailed the myriad benefits that a warmer climate would bring. And indeed, during the Medieval Warm Period, for example, when the Earth was much warmer than it is today, Vikings were able to farm on Greenland, and vast areas of previously uninhabitable lands were opened up for agriculture and human settlements. More CO2, meanwhile — dubbed the “gas of life” by scientists but “pollution” by alarmists — would make agriculture far more productive, allowing the world to produce much more food.

Despite outlining what are, essentially, undisputed facts in his book, the French climate and political establishments were driven to unhinged outrage, along with Verdier's bosses at the government-controlled media giant. One especially furious and prominent politician, Nathalie Kosciusko-Morizet, the former French “Ecology, Sustainable Development, Transport and Housing” minister, called climate skeptics “@$$holes” in an interview with one of France's largest newspapers. “When we say it’s going to improve tourism, it might be true if the temperature increased by two degrees,” she railed in response to Verdier's truth-telling before making various outlandish and discredited claims. “But that is not what climate change is. It multiplies 'extreme weather events,' that is to say that where there is desert it’ll be even more dry, and where there are problems of a hurricane, there will be still more.” Of course, the facts show hurricanes are at record lows, deserts around the world are mostly getting greener, and more.

Aside from politicians desperate for carbon taxes and a UN-run global-warming regime, the far-left but influential daily newspaper Le Monde has also been leading the establishment's panicked attacks against Verdier. “The models used to predict the average rise in temperatures on the surface of the globe have proved to be rather reliable, with the gap between observations and predictions quite small,” the paper claimed, apparently hoping its readers would be ignorant of the fact that every single UN climate model has proven embarrassingly wrong. The paper also claimed Verdier's book was full of “errors.” Verdier's employer, too, came down hard, the meteorologist said. “I received a letter telling me not to come [to work]. I'm in shock,” he told a government-controlled radio broadcaster. “This is a direct extension of what I say in my book, namely that any contrary views must be eliminated.” France Televisions has refused to comment so far, though news reports say Big Labor is also demanding that Verdier be fired — and he may well be. “I don’t think management liked it, let’s be honest,” Verdier said. “I put myself via this investigation on the path of [UN climate summit] COP 21, which is a bulldozer, and we can see the results.”

Verdier, whose weather forecasts reached some five million viewers every day until this week, first realized he needed to speak out when French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius called a meeting with French weathermen in the media last year. The socialist politician demanded that the meteorologists frighten their audiences with threats of “climate chaos” in their weather forecasts. “I was horrified by this discourse,” Verdier, known as “Monsieur Météo” (“Mr. Weatherman”), was quoted as saying about the demand in the French magazine Les Inrockuptibles. Shortly after that, the socialist foreign minister appeared on the cover of another magazine posing as a weatherman with “500 days to save the planet” as the headline. “If a minister decides he is Mr. Weatherman, then Mr. Weatherman can also express himself on the subject in a lucid manner,” Verdier said. “What is shameful is this pressure placed on us to say that if we don’t hurry, it’ll be the apocalypse.” So-called climate diplomacy, he added, is essentially politicians working to impose policies they desire.

Minister Fabius, of course, is the same climate alarmist who sparked an outcry this summer by calling on Obama, the UN, and its member regimes to sidestep the U.S. Constitution and the American people’s elected representatives in order to impose a global-warming regime on humanity. The official, who will host the upcoming UN “climate change” confab in Paris this December, told assembled African delegates at a UN summit in Bonn, Germany, that “we know the politics in the United States.” “Whether we like it or not, if it comes to the [U.S.] Congress, they will refuse” to approve a planetary regime ostensibly aimed at curbing alleged man-made global warming by regulating and taxing emissions of CO2. Of course, Fabius did not mention the fact that the U.S. Constitution requires congressional approval for the UN schemes and all international agreements — and even then, they must be constitutional. Still, the Obama administration has made clear that it intends to bypass Congress, and so far it is not clear that the GOP majority elected to stop Obama has any concrete plans to rein him in or even to stop funding the shenanigans.

With global-warming theories becoming increasingly discredited by the observable evidence, and with growing numbers of scientists and experts blowing the whistle on the scheming, the UN and its member governments are in a race against time. Meanwhile, multiple ringleaders for the UN “climate” industry have faced legal troubles. Among them: Rajendra K. Pachauri, the UN IPCC boss who was forced out this year after being arrested for sexual abuse and then admitted that his climate scheming was his “religion”; and former UN General Assembly President John Ashe, a key warming alarmist who was arrested by U.S. authorities last week in a corruption scandal involving bribes from Communist Chinese operatives. The climate establishment is trying desperately to create the impression that a global-warming regime for humanity will be the inevitable result of the upcoming Paris conference. If recent developments are any indication, however, that is far from certain at this point. Americans should educate themselves and their elected representatives on the agenda while there is still time to stop it.
