UPDATED: My two cents on the JL killing...

Are we asking the right questions about these senseless tragedies???

Has anyone noticed that news reports about the stabbing death of the Jonathan Law student have been less sensational than previous incidents of school violence around the country? Is it because the victims death was a result of a knife attack rather than a result of gun violence? From what I've been seeing on TV and reading in online news reports, there seems to be no one blaming the knife for the attack. Would this be the case if the attacker had used a gun? Why isn't there a cry to begin background checks for those who go to Bed, Bath and Beyond to buy some kitchen cutlery? Where are the talking head round table discussions about the sharpness and length of blades that the government should allow to be sold to the public? Isn't the easy access to a knife the reason why this tormented kid was able to carry out this atrocious act? No, you don't hear any of that. No one should. Because it is not relevant and probably seems pretty ridiculous to those of you are still reading this. That is my point. Blaming the knife seems so absurd in this case. So, why would the reverse most likely be taking place if the weapon of choice was a gun? Does using a knife fail to meet the criteria for the media's anti-gun agenda?

The more important question that should be asked by the so called media experts and politicians who regularly set up shop in the parking lots outside the scenes of these tragedies, should be about the potential use and role psychotropic medications had on the assailant, if any, no matter the weapon of choice. Was he being treated for some mental health issue that required him taking some form of an SSRI? A great percentage of our youth are currently prescribed these drugs to deal with depression, ADD, bi-polar disorder, shyness, hyper-activity and other such maladies, which recently have been concocted by the medical community with the cooperation of pharmaceutical companies looking to cash in on the profits to be made selling these potentially dangerous drugs to an unsuspecting public to deal with these illnesses that didn't exist when you and I were kids. (now, that's a run on sentence for you)

These drugs have been linked to violent reactions ranging from self mutilation, suicide, physical attacks on others and murders by those using them. The real questions we should all be pondering about these type of incidents are those dealing with the continued drugging of our children. Almost all of the incidents of school violence the past 20 years can be traced to assailants either using or transitioning from taking these psychotropic medications which coincidentally have only begun to be widely prescribed during that same 20 year period. If you think I am making this up, take a few minutes and Google it. Coincidence??? Is anyone asking the questions??? Isn't it time we begin???
