Some history stuff: Compiegne, the scene of two historical military surrenders..

The site of the German surrender to France in 1918 and the site of the French surrender to Germnay in 1940...


The original railway car that was used at both occassions was shipped back to Berlin by Hitler and later destroyed by Allied bombing raids. Pieces of the car were later found and returned to the museum at Compiegne in the mid 1990's.
