More attacks on Ron Paul. The establishment is getting nervous...

Faux Conservatives Smear Ron Paul Ahead Of Iowa Run In

Limbaugh suggests anyone but Ron Paul can beat Obama when exact opposite is true

Steve Watson

With the latest polls showing Ron Paul within touching distance of the lead in Iowa with less than three weeks to go to the caucus, the phony conservative big guns have set about a desperate campaign to smear the Congressman, for fear that he could actually win.

Appearing on on Fox News Channel’s “On the Record with Greta van Sustren” on Wednesday night, radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh lambasted Paul, claiming that “right now anybody other than Ron Paul could beat Obama if the election were tomorrow — easily.”

Limbaugh also suggested that Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann, former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum and Texas Gov. Rick Perry were the most conservative candidates.

Limbaugh’s attack falls flat on it’s face when you consider the fact that just last week an NBC News/Marist Poll found that among all competitors for the Republican nomination, Ron Paul has the best chance of defeating President Obama in a head-to-head race. Indeed, Obama defeats all the GOP competitors except for Ron Paul in a hypothetical matchup, thus the EXACT OPPOSITE of what Limbaugh claims is actually true.

Rush Limbaugh is not an idiot, he knows this is the case, yet he also knows that the majority of Fox News viewers will simply swallow his lies wholesale without questioning his “facts”.

Ron Paul is the only candidate in the 2012 GOP race who has the ability to pick up votes from Democrats, Independents and Liberal voters who are dissatisfied with Obama’s continuation of George W. Bush’s core policies.

Limbaugh has consistently sought to sideline Ron Paul by claiming he is a fringe candidate even as his success in national polls prove he is a powerful front runner for the 2012 presidential election.

During a recent monologue on his radio show, Limbaugh, who once admitted that he was a water carrier for the Republican Party, claimed that Ron Paul would destroy the GOP, and that Paul’s supporters were “nuts on parade”.

Not only has Ron Paul received more than double the amount of donations from active duty military personnel than all of the other Republican candidates combined, he has also raised more money from the troops than President Obama himself.

By characterizing Ron Paul supporters as “nuts on parade,” Limbaugh has simultaneously insulted the thousands of U.S. troops he routinely claims to support.

Meanwhile, appearing on Fox News’ “Hannity” last night, Ann Coulter fully endorsed Mitt Romney, proclaiming him to be the most conservative candidate there is along with Michele Bachmann.

During the discussion Coulter set about a pathetic smear attempt on Ron Paul, stating “I think of the candidates on the stage, Newt Gingrich is tied with Ron Paul — and only Ron Paul because of his foreign policy — as the least conservative candidate on the stage.”

Coulter’s assertion that Ron Paul is the least conservative candidate in the 2012 GOP field is beyond ridiculous. In fact, Ron Paul is not only the most conservative candidate, he is officially the most conservative member of congress and more conservative than any senator or president, not only today but dating all the way back to 1937.

Out of 3,320 individuals, Ron Paul ranks number 3,320 (number 1 being the most liberal) in a Common Space Scores tabulation by distinguished political scientist Dr Keith T. Poole. The scores are computed from all the roll calls cast in the House and Senate for the 1937 – 2002 period.

Coulter, on the other hand, is not a conservative. Rather she is a rabid neo-conservative of the PNAC mould. She is practically obsessed with the idea of dominating and culturally obliterating the middle east and routinely espouses the doctrine of pre-emptive invasion of other countries.

In her mind, a conservative is someone who wholly endorses aggressive policing of the planet by the military industrial complex and the armed forces of the United States. Coulter’s idea of what a conservative is is so twisted it defies belief.

To suggest that Romney or Bachmann are more conservative than Ron Paul is truly laughable. Romney supported the banker bailout and was the author of an almost identical proposal to Obamacare, while Bachmann, the so-called Tea Party (Taxed Enough Already) candidate, is a former tax collector. Both candidates also endorse an aggressive militaristic foreign policy.

Only by directly challenging the blatant lies and smear coming out of the mouths of talking heads like Limbaugh and Coulter can we communicate the fact that Ron Paul’s policies represent the only solution to help rescue a crumbling America that has been gutted economically, socially and geopolitically by decades of phony partisanship and a complete abrogation from both parties of the constitutional foundation of the country.

The latest Rasmussen poll out of Iowa places Ron Paul narrowly in third place with 18%. Gingrich is at 20% and Romney at 23%, according to the poll. A poll earlier in the week from Public Policy Polling had Paul in second place, just 1 percentage point behind Gingrich.
