Greenwald: Criticism of President Hillary Will Be Labeled “Misogynistic”

“Like opposition to Obama has been depicted as racist”

In an interview with GQ Magazine, journalist Glenn Greenwald warns that if Hillary Clinton wins the presidency in 2016, criticism of her policies will be labeled “misogynistic,” just as criticism of Obama has been characterized as racist.

“Hillary is banal, corrupted, drained of vibrancy and passion. I mean, she’s been around forever, the Clinton circle. She’s a fucking hawk and like a neocon, practically,” Greenwald told GQ’s Michael Paterniti. “She’s surrounded by all these sleazy money types who are just corrupting everything everywhere. But she’s going to be the first female president, and women in America are going to be completely invested in her candidacy. Opposition to her is going to be depicted as misogynistic, like opposition to Obama has been depicted as racist. It’s going to be this completely symbolic messaging that’s going to overshadow the fact that she’ll do nothing but continue everything in pursuit of her own power.”

Noting that America has a “permanent government that doesn’t get affected by election choices and that isn’t in any way accountable to any sort of democratic transparency and just creates its own world off on its own,” Greenwald adds that, “Americans love to mock the idea of monarchy, and yet we have our own de facto monarchy.”

Given that his work is embraced by much of the left, which is often prone to playing the race or gender card as a means of silencing dissenting voices, Greenwald’s warning about how the elite will exploit Hilary’s gender to frame criticism of her as sexist is a powerful statement.

Greenwald also warns, “They’ll probably have a gay person after Hillary who’s just going to do the same thing,” an interesting remark given the fact that Greenwald himself is openly gay.

However, this goes far deeper than just the 2016 presidential election.

There appears to be a deliberate effort amongst the political establishment and the entertainment industry to silence conservative voices by going to far as to characterize opposition to issues such as gay marriage or abortion as actual thought crimes that should be punished by extralegal monetary and career sanctions.

Phil Robertson survived his ideological persecution thanks to a massive backlash against A&E’s decision to suspend the Duck Dynasty star, but in a case which received less publicity, Home improvement network HGTV canned a new show, Benham Brothers, after gay rights groups demanded that the pair’s opposition to same sex marriage be penalized.

The Donald Sterling controversy has also established the chilling precedent that privately recorded conversations which take place inside the home now carry the same consequences as public statements.

We have now officially entered an era of thought crime where views and opinions, whether they be offensive or merely political in nature, which are deemed to challenge liberal edicts or that express dissent against members of the ruling elite, are not merely censored but also the subject of retribution on behalf of the state and the mass media as part of a targeted public humiliation campaign.
