Prominent Activist Backs Occupy Bilderberg Campaign
Downing Street Memo protagonist David Swanson asks why the left protests G8 but not Bilderberg

Prominent anti-war activist David Swanson has publicly backed the ‘Occupy Bilderberg’ campaign, illustrating how people from across the political spectrum are coming together to shine a spotlight on the clandestine influence wielded on world events by the secretive group.
Swanson was instrumental in publicizing the Downing Street Memo, described by many as the “smoking gun” proving that the justification to invade Iraq was purposely fabricated and that “the intelligence and facts were being fixed around the policy.”
In an op-ed entitled Occupy Bilderberg, Swanson calls for Bilderberg to be “mic checked,” asking why summits such as G8 and NATO attract thousands of demonstrators while Bilderberg is largely ignored by leftists.
“Do you have to be xenophobic, paranoid, isolationist, or libertarian to protest a secretive gathering of over 100 billionaires, industrialists, media barons, and politicians working to shape our public sphere, or has the left dropped the ball? Is it time for Occupy to step in?” asks Swanson.
It’s an excellent question given the fact that many libertarians and conservatives who share OWS protesters’ disenfranchisement with the current political and economic climate don’t always share their convictions in terms of who is to blame for the problems.
As we have previously documented, the Occupy Wall Street movement has to a large extent been hijacked by Labor unions and other leftist organizations with direct ties to the Obama administration, which itself is financed by Wall Street.
Re-orienting the Occupy crowd to focus on targeting the real centers of power and corruption is a must if the movement is not to become self-destructive.
As we have highlighted, there are innumerable specific examples of where Bilderberg has manufactured consensus for decisions of global significance, from creating currencies, to scheduling wars, to picking vice-presidents. All this scheming has been done behind closed doors, with a sneering arrogance towards any notion of the democratic process, and with scant mainstream media scrutiny.
Occupy Bilderberg 2012 is shaping up to be the biggest protest ever against an organization that despises being in the public eye.
The Bilderberg Group meets from May 31st to June 2nd at the Westfields Marriott Washington Dulles hotel in Chantilly, Virginia.
Following Alex Jones’ call to occupy Bilderberg, the grass roots activist community has gone into overdrive. A detailed Facebook page has been set up along with a website in addition to numerous other alternative media websites who are getting on board with the event.
As we reported last week, Alex Jones has developed two sources within the Bilderberg Group itself, one of which provided him with the code name of the conference (Palm Tree), promising that 2012 will most likely see Bilderberg’s quasi-secret agenda exposed to a greater degree than ever before.
