Random Thoughts (Eleven)

I'm not complaining by any stretch of the imagination, but I have worked only four days out of the past sixteen due to a combination of extreme global warming striking New England, MLK Day, weekends and one personal day to go to the doctor. To top that off, there is another storm scheduled to hit Tuesday lasting into Wednesday. There is talk of taking days away from April vacation. Whatever. In the end you still have to teach 181 days. I know this is what gives teachers a bad name, but hell, someone's got to do it. It might as well be me. There's nothing like a 55 year old man jumping around the living room because of a snow day. I have to say I've shoveled my fair share of snow in my life, but this is getting ridiculous. There are mountains of snow on my street over six feet high. To top that off, the temperature has been in the single digits the past few days so all that snow isn't going anywhere.

Well, the NY Jets face another test tonight against the Steelers in freezing Pittsburgh. I don't expect them to win because I'm pretty much a pessimist when it comes to my favorite sports teams being a Jets, Red Sox, Islander and Celtics fan. I admit the Celts and Sox have come through recently, but there have been many long years of drought that any global warm-monger would be proud of. For the Jets it's been 42 years and counting since their last Super Bowl. I am old enough to remember the last time they were there when they defeated the Baltimore Colts behind Joe Namath. I was 13 at the time and have fond memories of the occasion. It would be nice to see them do it again one more time before I die. But I'm not betting on it.

I hope some of you have been keeping abreast of the price of silver the past week or so. After rising to about $32 and ounce, it has fallen to the $28 range. Don't be fooled into thinking this is a bubble that will collapse like the housing or oil bubble. The dollar is only being propped up by the Federal Reserve dumping trillions into the treasury bond market. This money, backed by nothing, is being made out of thin air and one of these days the house of cards will fall and hard money will be the only source of accepted currency. Buy now while the prices are low. Some are predicting that after March 11, the demand and price will skyrocket. I have found APMEX very reliable and trustworthy. You create an account and purchase what you wish online. Believe me, I hope things don't get that bad, but the handwriting is on the wall. Why not protect a portion of your savings before it all disappears due to hyperinflation.

Viewership of this blog has really taken off again this month. Thanks for your interest and your comments. Speaking of comments, some of you don't understand my sense of humor. Remember, some of the stuff I post, I find really funny or mildly amusing. Much is political satire. Some are just plain jokes, like the one about the old man losing his wallet over and over again to hot looking babes in the shopping center parking lot. Someone actually thought this was something that actually happened to me and wondered how I could be so dumb. Talk about being dumb.
The images I post with the articles are my attempt at humor. Most I get from searching Google images. I don't create them. The Obama food stamp image is one example. I thought it was funny and would make an appropriate complement to the article. Another thing, most of what gets posted here are articles written by others. I post the link, and author to provide credit where credit is due. The comments preceding any post are mine. I usually highlight in bold or italicize text that is not mine. I hope that clarifies some issues for some of you. The Random Thoughts section and a few concert reviews, I claim as my own. I don't have too many original thoughts and I appreciate what it takes to write some of the articles I post here. I am not attempting to take credit for any of them. A few people have given me permission to post their work whenever I wish. One of those being Jim Fetzer, the acclaimed JFK Assassination researcher who I had the privilege of coming in contact with on the now defunct JFK Research Forum. I have seen my concert reviews pop up on other blogs and forums. I think that's pretty cool. Feel free to use them as you wish. Just post a link to this site if you do determine they are worth your time and effort to read.

Until I have another original thought, stay warm and Peace.
