See what happens when a journalist questions authority

Last week I posted a video link of Helen Thomas questioning the White House press secretary about the Israeli attack on the humanitarian ships headed to Gaza. Well, they dug up some old interview of her saying the Jews should go back to Europe and plastered it all over the news and the web. It was obviously payback time for Helen who now has resigned after being only one of a few reporters over the years who have challenged authority. Dan Rather got his a couple of years ago. It is a shame.

White House Reporter Helen Thomas Retires

Legendary White House scribe Helen Thomas retired today following a weekend of blowback over comments she made on camera in which she stated that Jews should “get the hell out of Palestine” and go back to Germany, Poland, or the U.S.

On Friday, Thomas issued an apology on her Web site in which she expressed regret for her comments. “They do not reflect my heart-felt belief that peace will come to the Middle East only when all parties recognize the need for mutual respect and tolerance. May that day come soon,” she wrote.
