Oh, really?

So now you are dangerous because you stand up for principles and rights protected by the Constitution? Are people really paranoid or is there evidence that justifies their fears? Anyone with common sense and an open mind can see these fears are legitimate ones. Just look at some of the posts here. Liberals are sure quick to support the same policies that Bush and his fascists Neocons promoted when they are carried out by Obama and the Democrats. Put aside the idea of Democrat and Republican, liberal and conservative, or any other label you want to use and realize there is no difference. Judge them by their actions not the propaganda put forward by the media that is controlled by the same forces that control the politicians. You are falling into their trap if you don't.

Oath Keepers: Potentially the most lethal and dangerous of all the new 'Patriot' groups
Rhodes and Whittle are eager to portray the core of the Oath Keepers' creeds -- the "ten orders" they "will not obey" -- as involving merely ordinary rights that everyone naturally would stand up for, and in a way, that's true. But only deeply paranoid people would believe there is any reason to be concerned that these rights violations might be looming.

Here they are:

•1. We will NOT obey any order to disarm the American people.
•2. We will NOT obey orders to conduct warrantless searches of the American people.
•3. We will NOT obey orders to detain American citizens as “unlawful enemy combatants” or to subject them to military tribunal.
•4. We will NOT obey orders to impose martial law or a “state of emergency” on a state.
•5. We will NOT obey orders to invade and subjugate any state that asserts its sovereignty.
•6. We will NOT obey any order to blockade American cities, thus turning them into giant concentration camps.
•7. We will NOT obey any order to force American citizens into any form of detention camps under any pretext.
•8. We will NOT obey orders to assist or support the use of any foreign troops on U.S. soil against the American people to “keep the peace” or to “maintain control."
•9. We will NOT obey any orders to confiscate the property of the American people, including food and other essential supplies.
•10. We will NOT obey any orders which infringe on the right of the people to free speech, to peaceably assemble, and to petition their government for a redress of grievances.

NYPD can keep surveillance documents on protesters secret, court rules

A federal appeals court has dealt a blow to a civil-liberties lawsuit against the New York Police Department, saying the police force is within its rights to keep secret some 1,800 pages of documents about its surveillance of protesters ahead of the Republican National Convention in 2004.

More than 1,800 people were arrested at or near Madison Square Garden over four days in August, 2004, during the convention where President George W. Bush accepted his party's nomination for a second term.

NYC's Bloomberg in London to view transit CCTV

New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg visited Britain's capital in a fact-finding mission Tuesday in the wake of the thwarted Times Square bombing, visiting centers where experts monitor a vast network of security cameras — one of the largest in the world.
Bloomberg wants to ramp up the security camera network in New York City's subways to mimic that in London's underground train system. London authorities say the city's train stations are watched by more than 12,000 cameras, and in a few years they aim to install a few thousand more. Officials say the additions would mean every person's face would be recorded when they enter the subway system.

Senators McCain And Lieberman Introduce Bill To Authorize Indefinite Detention

The following can be attributed to Laura W. Murphy, Director of the ACLU Washington Legislative Office:

“The Enemy Belligerent Interrogation, Detention and Prosecution Act is a direct attack on the Constitution.

“Indefinite detention flies in the face of American values and violates this country’s commitment to the rule of law. Over the last decade, we have seen how disregard for the rule of law has disastrous results for America’s standing in the world, and it is unfathomable that Senators McCain and Lieberman would forget so recent a lesson. We must forever put an end to the false and dangerous assumption that sacrificing our principles makes us safe. We should never conclude that our ideals are not strong enough to withstand these threats.

Feds push for tracking cell phones

In that case, the Obama administration has argued that warrantless tracking is permitted because Americans enjoy no "reasonable expectation of privacy" in their--or at least their cell phones'--whereabouts. U.S. Department of Justice lawyers say that "a customer's Fourth Amendment rights are not violated when the phone company reveals to the government its own records" that show where a mobile device placed and received calls.

Those claims have alarmed the ACLU and other civil liberties groups, which have opposed the Justice Department's request and plan to tell the U.S. Third Circuit Court of Appeals in Philadelphia that Americans' privacy deserves more protection and judicial oversight than what the administration has proposed.
